Need advice on quilt

While I was reorganizing my sewing room, I found parts and pieces to a baby quilt. Tonight I made the blocks, but I'm not certain that butting them together is the answer. My drawing has them put together like this, and then a medium and then dark border.

Should I go with the pattern, or do something else?

The blocks are very pretty, but I think I'd go with a narrow sashing to separate them a little bit. That way you'd be able to enjoy each block individually.

I agree with the narrow sashing, that would be easier on the eyes I think.

Oh, I really like the last picture you posted. The blocks stand out better.
