Oversize ironing board covers
Hi Ladies, My DH is going to make me a oversize ironing board, he is thinking 24"X60 or 62". Could anyone tell me how I could make an ironing board cover for that large of a board. Also, what are your opinions on an ironing board that large? Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Oversize ironing board covers
I just dearly love mine! We covered it with several layers of warm and natural batting. Then covered it with 2 layers of muslin. I stapled it to the underneath side. It is a lifesaver when ironing large pcs of fabric. I had ordered the lg pad & cover from the same place I got my board and I did not like it. So I made one. LOL Good Luck.

I love my big board. I ordered a new cover from tracey's tables in Wis and it was nice. I know a lot of quilters who have made their own cover and just stapled it to the bottom of the board. You will love it. Geri

Mine is not that big. I couldn't reach across 60". Mine's just a board covered with batting and muslin stapled to the back. DH put slats on the bottom the same distance apart that my ironing board is wide so that it won't slip around. I think mine is about 24" X 42".
