Kathysquilts, are you doing the work by hand or is it going to be machine embroidery?

I had thought about doing some of the redwork on the embroidery machine using the flour sack tea towels.

I have three tea towels completed that I am doing the embroidery work by hand. I am so slow that if I start now I might have them completed when my youngest grandchild gets married. She's not quite 2.

What about placemats? We still use them but I am not sure if younger folks like them. I like the table runners that Bransmom suggested.

Kittyquilt9292, where did you find patterns for the pin cushions?

JoAnn, I have several patterns that I've gathered from various sources. I have to work today, but I'll look them up and post tonight. In the meantime, others may post patterns here, so I'll check before I duplicate the patterns. Pin cushions are really fun, when I could still crochet, I made some for gifts and decorated them with little "pokes" for seasons. Back to you tonight, have a great day, hugs, carol/kittyquilt

Pillowcases.....the older kids love them, especially when geared to their current fad. I try to make a few periodically throughout the year just to have them on hand. If you have an embroidery machine (wish I had one), personalized beach towels. I wanted to make hooded bath towels for the little ones this year, but I can't find a pattern I'm happy with. I'm doing tablerunners for nieces/nephews this year and have 7 completed.....I need 5 more.

Thanks for starting this conversation....I'm always looking for new things to make.

Kittyquilt: I've made several pincushion/thread catchers that are pretty quick. Here's the site for instructions:

It's a lot of fun matching the coordinating fabrics for these.

When making table runners think "holiday" I made a Irish Shamrock with greens and white, Christmas ones, Thanksgiving ones, and the list goes on. Also Patriotic for the 4th of July. Last year the grand kids all got pillow cases with fabric that suited their personallty and I bought the pillows for in side them. Good luck.Marge

I found a neat pattern for covers for the boutique style tissue boxes on the Connecting Threads website. It has a few appliques to make the box specific for the season.

Kittyquilt9292~

I'm sorry to offend anyone. I certainly did not mean to commit a community offense. I didn't read anything about letting someone know of a helpful website in the guidelines. I will not post again.

Wow, ya'll have some good ideas for gifts! I don't know if they still have them or not, but QIAD had some great little patterns/kits for making cell phone covers. You can snap the little strap onto the inside or outside of your purse. I love getting kitchen towels and potholders as gifts, I never have enough it seems. Something else that's fun to make is quilted mantel scarves. I made one for my sister a couple years ago. There's instructions for one that's really cute in the Christmas at Bear's Paw Ranch book that you can make using fabrics for other seasons. In the same DVD El shows how to make the cutest gift boxes, she took a couple of small quilt blocks and made a cover cut out of cardboard and covered it then the sides come up and are tied.

Thought I would try this again and ask if anyone has made the baked potato bags. I think I will add them to my gifts to make list. Do you think the square or round is best? (I have not used them but they look neat.)

Only 30 days until Christmas!
