Is it too busy?

Post by SewSew » Sat Aug 16, 2008 5:41 am

I made this quilt top and now I am wondering if it looks too busy. It is a wallhanging or can be used as a table topper or couch throw. Should I change the fall leaves fabric to a solid color? What color?

How about another flower in the center? That might balance it out. Lori

It is busy but I like it. IF you change the fall leaves pattern, I would choose a solid color in the same colors that are in the fall leaf fabric or a soft golden yellow....then, quilt a pretty design in the solid color blocks. Very pretty quilt. Interesting.

It doesn't bother me. The border fabric is a busy print so it looks fine with that. If it were me, I'd hate to unsew it so I'd leave it and be happy with it. :) But, if you really don't like it this way, I think I'd try what zfatcat suggested and put another flower in the middle. Either way, it's a fun fall quilt.

I think the purple in solid that is in the center square would be nice. I think it would bring it all together. MHO

I like it the way it is.It may be busy, but it is a beautiful busy.
The colors are just right for fall. I would use it as a table topper. Flo.

Thankyou ladies. I think I will try adding another flower to the center, that would require the least ripping out.LOL I didn't make all the flowers alike and I had not noticed how the sunflower on the bottom left didn't seem to fit in. I will move that one to the center and make another one to fit into the corner and I think that will make it come together a little better.

Thankyou all for your input, sometimes it takes a different pair of eyes to take a look and see what a quilt needs. I knew I could depend on my wonderful friends to help out.
