YES indeed this is a GO but signups are NOT over yet so be patient we may get some more joining us.. we can use as many as we can...
BEING A NEWBIE I MADE A REALLY STUPID MISTAKE IN READING THE PATTERN.. for the quilt it needs both 10"( actually 9" but someone suggested we needed to make it 10 )squares of which we will have enough and 7 1/2" squares of which we will have some with the left over larger squares.... however I believe that each of us could adapt what we get and supplement with your stash fabrics. So those who are purchasing fabric and plan to do this pattern you might want to get extra for yourself. IM SO SORRY!! So the more who sign up the better in other words...

oh my goodness, why am I doing this? I looked and looked to find the pattern, got to all sorts of different places and could not find the pattern! Well, today I checked again, and voila! found it. What does that mean? Am I supposed to do this swap? Let me just make sure I understand, we are each just sending 4 10 inch squares? Humor me, I'm usually confused! If that's correct and you still need more people, sign me up. If you have enough, not a problem, just let me know. carol/kittyquilt

Carol, it's 4 ten inch squares (1 Red, 2 Green, 1 Gold) times the number of people who sign up. Right now, it's 16 people, if that's all that sign up, then you will need 16 small bags with 4 ten inch squares in each small bag and all those small bags will be put into one large ziplock bag.

But Beth said not to start cutting until she knows how many people are going to sign up. She's not closing it until Sep 30th. The more people sign up, the bigger variety we will get back.

Don't hesitate to ask questions. It's better to ask now before you buy the fabric and/or start cutting it. She will let us know when to start.

Thanks Beth and Evie for "unconfusing me". And that is no easy task! LOL. This sounds like fun. I'll be watching for the "start date"! HUGS< carol/kittyquilt

Boy, I'm glad I reread this tonight. I thought for sure that it was 2 red and 1 green and 1 gold.
I'm having a bit of trouble finding Christmas fabrics that aren't "kiddy" looking. I went to Hancock's and found only 1 red (solid). I picked up a possibile green only to realize later, that it's got cowboys with a lasso and horse printed on it! I couldn't see that in the beginning, and it was in with the Christmas fabrics!!!
I did find 2 gold possibilities which is what I thought I would have the trouble finding. Got some of each.
I hope these are supposed to be washed... I threw them in the washer the minute I got home with them.
Guess I'll have to go to Joann's tomorrow to see what they have. Anyone else having trouble finding Christmas fabrics without Santa's, snowmen or reindeer?
Joanne

I haven't started looking yet, and I do have some left from last year, although not sure if I can use those.
Last year I found a number of nice Christmas designs at Joann's that weren't kiddy. I don't know when they put out the Christmas fabrics, but probably soon.
I'm also thinking about solid fabrics like Kona or some other. They have beautiful colors. (Oh, I just read the instructions again. Beth posted, "traditional green, red or pale gold. This does mean solid colors.......") I took that to mean they don't HAVE TO BE SOLIDS, BUT CAN BE, now I'm thinking maybe that means NO SOLIDS! Beth, can you clarify?????
She also said they can be other "things" on the fabric as longs as you can tell the predominant color. So I think that might give us a lot of options. Just no santas or juvenile things.
Happy finding, everyone, carol/kittyquilt

YES, YES, YES, Your fabric I think should be washed because of the dark colors... trying setting it too with 1/2 vinegar in the wash water. I know it helps the red.

Your material as long as it is good quality fabric can come from JoAnns etc... just remember you want to give what you expect to get back...

The fabric can be a solid but it doesnt have to be, I found some of my prettiest fabric in the closeout bins and no where near the christmas fabrics.. fairy frost is another option.. there is an online fabric place called fabricblowout.com that had some nice metallic christmas options awhile back but I havent looked lately Predominantly green plaids would also work,

For all of you that don't have any other obligations or things to tend to... you have my permission to cut out of your fabric a minimum of 16 kits but be prepared as others may sign up.

HO HO HO looks like Santa wants to get things done early this year!!
