using something besides muslin
I'm making some more crazy quilt blocks to go with the ones I have gotten in the swap. I wanted to know if instead of using muslin for the foundation of the blocks if it's alright to use some of my cheap, thin fabrics that I won't be using in tops. I'm going to use a dark backing after the quilt is made so the fabrics shouldn't show through. What do you guys think? ~Abbigail~

Sounds like a good idea to me, especially with a dark backing.I have an old quilt from my DGM that was done that way.

When I was a teenager, we used old sheets for a foundation for scrappy strip quilts. Still have a couple. I think this would be an excellent way to get rid of the thin or ugly fabrics that we somehow collect!

Sounds like a great way to use up fabric that you wouldn't otherwise use, Abbigail!! You'd just want to be sure that there wasn't a pattern that would show through the fabrics on top!
