Caroline,

Your cup, plate blocks are so very cute. I knew you could do it.

They will make a beautiful wall hanging.

What beautiful teacup blocks I'm seeing! It's really fun to see these as they're coming along.

One question, though...

How much is "slightly larger"? I'm referring to the size of the blocks to then square up later. And do you make the medium brown strips slightly larger, too?

Oh. That was two questions. Anyway, I'd appreciate any words of advice.

Thanks,
Betsy

Carol (and oh so much more experienced friends) how much does the appliqué generally shrink the block down to? The unfinished size to square it to is 10 1/2 so should we start with it actually about 11" or 10 3/4" ?

I wish I could answer your questions,,,I think it would depend on the applique method,,,Im doing mine with a machine blanket stitch and Im getting no shrinkage...not much help ,am I? Sorry!

Betsy & Carolyn, when I do hand appliqué, I always add 1". Example: I start with 11 1/2" square and trim to 10 1/2" when finished. For machine appliqué, I've never tried it. Wouldn't be able to answer for that one. Hope it helped. :-)

I would add 1/2 inch to the white part and also the strips, then trim after appliques to the correct size
