Does anyone have a hint on sewing 1/2 sqs together to make a border? There must be a fast and easy Eleanor Burns method!

Paper piecing would be the way I'd do it for a long run of HSTs.

I think one of the gals uses a wonder ruler...I think that's the name. It's supposed to help when making alot of HSTs.

I think there are as many ways to make HST as there are quilters. I use different methods depending on what I'm doing. If all the HST are the same - I personally use the Wondercut Ruler. But any of the various triangle papers would work as well.

El's method makes 8 HST units from two large squares. http://www.quiltinaday.com/eleanorandco ... efault.asp These are the instructions for using the Triangle square up Ruler.

If I'm doing scrappy HST I use the same ruler, cutting my squares 1" bigger than the finished size and then drawing a line, stitch on both sides and trim w/the ruler.

Recently I've also used the Easy Angle Ruler. http://www.ezquilt.com/tutorials/easyan ... yangle.htm

I just saw this demonstrated at a quilt vendor show. It was a template for cutting accurate HSTs. You sew lines on the bias of your two pieces of fabric and use the proper size template to cut. You don't even have to square up afterwards as it comes out perfect. Here's the link: http://www.templatetechniques.com/'>htt ... iques.com/

I didn't buy it, but if I ever have to make a lot of HSTs I think I will.

I watched the video, it looks like the same technique as using Thangles and the Wondercut ruler but you don't have to sew all those lines using the Wondercut ruler.
