A little tip
I am sure that everyone here has already thought of this, but as a newbie I thought I would throw it out there anyway. As a grandmother of 5 grandsons, sissors and rotary cutters are always disappearing. I took pink check (I love pink) ribbon, I had some left with the wire from a doll I was working on. I took a piece of the ribbon and tied it on the thumb section of each of my pair of sissors and also tied them on the rotary cutters. I told the boys, you all know how momma is about pink. Just remember, pink ribbons are mine. It has worked like a charm.

Much nicer than the approach I used. I told my son if he touched my sewing scissors he was dead meat. It worked. LOL

Re: A little tip
I tried something similar w/my tools -- screwdrivers, wrenches, etc -- didn't work. DH confiscated them. But I will say he does leave my shears and rotary cutter alone. About 11 years ago Fiskars had a pair of purple shears and a tape measure packaged together. That's what I wanted for Christmas. DH surprised me with a Ginger gift set - shears and nippers. I've kept up with both and DH doesn't touch them. Now I still can't find paper scissors, but that's another story.

Re: A little tip
I figured out the family always wanted my good scissors was because they cut great. I bought several pair of the best sewing scissors for the house and it was expensive but not in the long run. My scissors are not borrowed any more, no need to. The Ginger scissors used to cut everything from paper to plastic still work just fine after all these years.

Re: A little tip
when I was growing up my <om had a pair of general use scissors in her drawer. She wrote "Please put me back" on them and they were always put away. We still call her scissors the "put me backs"
now the unmarked ones never got put back.
I have so many scissors for paper and fabric we can always find at least one pair. I did costumes for a children's theater group for years and purchased inexpensive scissors to use backstage. I had extras for my helpers so now they are all in my craft room...about 15 pair
