Caroline I would use this pattern:
http://www.quilterscache.com/M/MapleLeafBlock.html and reduce the blocks to a 2 1/2 inch unfinished block instead of 4 1/2.
Because I'm sure this will be a 6 inch finished block. DJ can you clarify.
Also if we do want to use different color leaves is that ok?

Yes, the maple leave is a 6.5" finished block. Vicky is right, that's the pattern I would use. Vicky when you mean different color leaves, do you mean different color leaves or different colors in the leaves? Redtop the background is a that logan color green, you know greenish yellow. I found a 6.5" pp pumpkin but it doesn't really look like it but I guess you could redraw parts of it. I do that alot.

DJ although the pumpkin pattern says 6.5 inches, it is almost 4 3/4 inches. If I have to draw my own I will(if that is alright). I don't want a face, I'd like to have one like the picture you posted. I'd like to have a pattern with the correct outside measurement and then I could draw in the lines for paper piecing. Please if anyone finds one, let me know. Thanks

Could I sign up for #8. Is the lemoyne star the one next to the pumpkin and above the churn dash?

Im not getting this....are we supposed to make a 6 .5 UNFINISHED block??? If so,the 2.5 inch squares cant be right,as it comes out at 7.5. That would finish to 7 inches.Hubby was close,,,if they are 2 3/8ths that will be about 7 1/8th inches which would make it just the 8th over the 6.5 called for. This is providing the block is supposed to FINISH at 6.5. I dont want us all making different sized blocks,,,they have to FIT Together! LOL!!!SOOO, is the 6.5 finished or un finished size????It seems the block would have to finish at 6.5 to fit with the rest,,the squares would need to be cut from 2.5,squared to 2 3/8,that would give you a 7 incher to finish at 6.5...

Here is a paper pieced pumpkin, you would have to add an inch all around or enlarge the pattern a little.

Caroline...I think the 6 1/2 is the unfinished size because the larger blocks are 12 1/2 inches and I assume they are 12 inches finished.
Sandy
I just re-read a post from DJ and she said it is 6 1/2 finished. Now I'm confused myself. I think I'll just be quiet about this!!
