Re: FABRIC: Jo Ann's New Fabric Line
Uh-oh, my fabric snobbery is kicking in again. Our local quilt shops cannot compete with JoAnn's and I hate the thought of JoAnn's putting one of my shops out of business. However, for those areas of the country that have no quilt shops but do have JoAnn's - it makes me glad that you guys and gals will be able to get the Legacy line at JoAnn's.

Re: FABRIC: Jo Ann's New Fabric Line
I try to look at it like this, there are those that "like" to shop at a LQS, then there are those that have no choice other than internet but to shop at LQS, then there are those that cannot afford to shop at the LQS. So when there is a JoAnn's to shop at, I think it is great for anyone that likes to shop there. LOL I noticed that they are getting some much better quality fabrics in the one here. Yes the price is more than the ususal $2-3 something a yd. but it is so much nicer fabric. I do like the JoAnn's here & there are 3 employees that bend over backwards for the Customers. I need to run over and have a look at this new line.

I looked at the fabric at Joanns yesterday in my area they only have a few bolts but at my local quilt shop in Belleville Mi, kay sells all her top quality fabric for 6 something a yard and the Joanns are 8.99 per yard so i will stick with the quilt shops. I think we should if at all poss support our gals that work so hard to bring us all the good stuff and classes and book and notions too

I'm a quilt shop quality fabric only gal but I must say that when I was at Joanns this weekend stocking up on sale notions I checked out this fabric. It's very good quality and one in particular I just loved. At $8.99 a yard it's actually a good deal here in Northern California because most LQS here are at $9.50 or $10.25 a yard.

I've stopped buying my material from Joannes. I've found in Tampa, all the $4.00 per yd and up are together and you have to hunt and peck. And even when I find the "better" quality, it's not as good as the quilt shop. I've reasoned with my self over price, but quite honestly..if I'm going to invest money then I want it to last. (I've had their fabric fade dramatically in a short period). Not only that, when it comes down to it, I'm may only be spending $1-$2 more per yd, so I'll buy the better product.

There is no Joann's store any closer than 25 miles from my house. It is rare that I use fabric not from the LQS for much of anything other than practice or clothes for my DGD. I did buy some southwest fabric at Hancocks the other day to make a walker bag for my sister. I have a friend who was over some while back who knows nothing about sewing (I've been trying to push her to learn). She wondered why I spendt so much on fabric. I had her feel the difference between fabric shop and LQS and she was sold. I just need to go look at this stuff. It is a few blocks from my Dad's so I may just travel on over there.
