Stabilizer

Post by Rose92 » Tue Jun 17, 2008 12:25 pm

Can I use freezer paper as a stabilizer for applique? Rather than go out and buy tear away stabilizer? I want to free motion around the edge with invisible thread.

I've used freezer paper before. Make sure you use a small stitch. If you do a buttonhole stitch, you will have paper permanently trapped underneath. Removing the paper is good handwork in front of the TV. Make sure you have tweezer's handy. :^)

Someone mentioned using coffee filters. I like using used/clean dryer sheets. Those I just trim and don't worry about getting every little bit out.
