I think back issues of magazines are a great idea! Especially for folks new to quilting.

I usually try to make something little.

I have made little needle booklets from my stash and then add a couple of needles inside. They are easy and since the fabric is left over from another project is is free.

When I did quilt runs last Christmas and spring each store gave out a Fat quarter. Some of the fabrics were cute but not right for me but perfect for a needle book or pincushion.

some of my Secret Pals have received these Fat Quarters as gifts

I have also made a booket of envelopes for putting swatches in for shopping, covered a little photoalbum that I picked up from Michaels in the dollar bin or a clipboard from the .99 Cent Store. (Brenda received one recently).

I enjoy the little note cards I receive too and use them for my future notes to secret pals.

Just wanted to ask everyone a question. Recently I went to a thrift shop and found old quilting magazines for 25¢ each. I bought 12! When I got home and looked through them, there were some I thought maybe I'd pass on to someone who doesn't mind getting used magazines. But then... I noticed some of the pages were ripped out. Whoever donated them must have kept the pages with the quilts she liked best.

So here's my question: How do you feel about getting a used magazine that has pages missing? Is that super tacky? There are still some nice quilt patterns and ideas in the magazines. What do you think???
