Washing charm packs
First of all, do you? And if so, how? I washed all the smaller than a fat eighth by hand for my Apple Core and then laid them out to dry but there's gotta be a better way, such as a bag of some sort to use in washer and dryer??
Thanks, as always, for all your sage advice!

Re: Washing charm packs
I've wondered this same thing. Unwashed 5 in squares were sent in the Charms swaps and I'm afraid they will dissolve into a stringy mess if I try to wash them.
Have Fun,

Hi Girls,
My LQS told me not to wash charm packs. Don't know what others will say about it; but that is what I have to offer.

Re: Washing charm packs
The only way I have washed small pieces is by hand, very gently. Rinsed them, rolled them in a towel to remove most of the water and laid them out on a dry towel to dry. Sorry that I don't know of an easier way. Maybe someone else will. I was wondering if they were put in a Lingerie bag they could be washed in the machine?

Re: Washing charm packs
I tend to wash mine, since I prewash all my other fabric purchases. I have several of those lingerie bags, you know, for fine washables, & I use them for charms or fqs too, works great. If I feel like it, for charms, I toss the bag of them in the dryer that way too, then I don't lose any in the dryer, like socks, right, lol. I mainly do this cause I wash all my other fabrics. Recently I did a disappearing 9patch with a collection of charms & didn't wash that bunch first, but that's all I have used on it too, so we'll see how that works out.....

Re: Washing charm packs
When I wash small amounts of fabric I put them in a small garment wash bag and toss them into the gentle cycle. I never dry fabric in the dryer but instead I hang it on the drying rack. Hope this helps.

I don't wash anything and especially charms, I would definitely not do that. The beauty of them is that they are cut and perfectly (mostly) square. That's why we pay more for them. Don't waste it:)

If your fabric is shop quality, don't worry about it. Just dig in and sew, El-cheap-o may run, but shop quality is built to last and ready to sew when it comes off the bolt. Amie

I don't like prewashing either... I will it to shrink up with my batting... I only prewash when swaps say to... I would never prewash the charms packs... what a pain!

Cool! Thanks for all the tips. Yes, they are shop quality from Keepsake Quilting; I've bought from them before and it's also great stuff so I guess I'll just jump right in.
Thanks again for all the 2 cents!
