Charm Party Tote ROUND 2

Post by SFOQuilter » Sat May 24, 2008 6:25 pm

So now I've found a new addiction that still includes fabric and quilting:) I've been going through my stash rounding up every charm I can find. Next up is Pampered Pooch by Moda and then I'm going to use my B&W charms I got in the swap.

Very pretty, Michelle! You sure do quick work. What's the name of the fabric line? Also, how did you get your spaces so perfect on the handles? And your lining seam looks great too. My first one didn't look so good, but the second one I did I used Steam-A-Seam to hold it down (I'm not a good hand sewer). How are you doing it? I think I need to come over and work on one with you so I can pick up some tips. :) I was thinking of doing this with my B&W charms as well so I can't wait to see yours.

Thank you! I was going to PM you so you could see my handles standing up.LOL I cut them a bit shorter this time. For the stitching on the handle I went down each side lining up the 3/8 inch line on my machine and then used the 5/8 line on each side. I did it as an experiment and it worked out OK. For the lining seam, I machine sewed it. I turned the seams in a 1/4 inch and then sewing right along the edge, barely a seam allowance at all.

And definitely, come on over. We could start up a tote bag production line right here in my house. LOL. This fabric is by Northcott . It's called Seems Like Old Times by Ro Gregg. It's a Quest for the Cure fabric line. I think it's very pretty.

How cute....and like that button!!
I have my charms ready to go, just waiting for my lining fab to arrive. Am using a Northcott line myself....Heaven on Earth.
I have read that the pattern hass a few hard to follow spots in it. If so, do you have any tips for those of us who will be making our first?

OH GOSH how beautiful!
Your stitching lines are all so straight! I always have a hard time getting the lines straight on the handles. I read your post about how you did it and made a note to put in my sewing room.

Can't wait to see your next one.
