I am trying to stitch down tulle over a moon and my needle's too big

I am experimenting with smoke monofilament trying to stitch down tulle in a would be landscape with a moon, trying to put a haze on it. The needle I used was probably a 80 0r 75 and it's too big. It puts big holes in my sky. The monofilament thread broke as well. So much for invisible stitches. Can anyone help? What kind of needle do I need? I was using a heavier clear monofilament in the bobbin. I was thinking of using 007 to fuse down the tulle but it shows up like hard glue if it's too thick. I have a landscape quilt that I was going to stitch down with monofilament. This experiment makes me wonder how that will go. Thanks, Jan

Hello, I use tulle to add or minimize dimension,too. First, I never use monofil in my bobbin. I use Bottom Line by Superior in my bobbin but regular cotton is fine. Use a Sharps size 70 or 80 with your monofil, I use Monopoly bu Superior. Then, I just FM like normal. HTHs, Amie )

Thanks quilterbee Amie, I will try to get some 70 and80 sized needles. Too bad I have two spools of monofilament that are nylon. Now I don't want to use them. thanks, Jan

You can still use it, it won't hurt anything. Just make sure it is .004 in size and you'll be fine. Amie )
