Re: when sized blocks are not quite the same size...
I have chosen to make some small wall hangings for a "travel room" decor. Everything in that spare room is from sort of a travel experience that just my DH and myself have had. We did not include the children in this room experiences. It was fun doing, and will continue to add to it. But, the suggestions that you all have given are great. I will take some of these fine suggestions and use them in the future.

Just another note on sneaking different sized blocks together.
I was putting together some 5" squares into a top. I offset the vertical rows so I wouldn't have to match horizontal seams. One of my rows came out *very* off and didn't work out with easing. Looked messy Blech!
I opened up the vertical seam about 1/3 of the length. Then I stitched a deeper horizontal seam allowance on 2 seams...I took them in by about 1/16th of an inch each. Doesn't seem like it would make much difference, but it did. With just 1/8 inch less of a difference, it eased in neatly, without rippling....VOILA'!

I just stumbled upon Eleanor Burns' answer to what to do if they are really seriously uneven...

GREAT book from Sharyn Craig: ""Setting Solutions"" tho it is out of print you might pick up a used one or look at your local library. She fantastic ideas on the subject and she has a newer book "Great Sets" that I purchased. Wish I had the first one! but I absolutely had to buy the 2nd one. Great insites to making all those odd size blocks sing on key.

I am new to quilting and am having a problem maybe you can help me with. It seems that when I piece a block, the top left corner is almost always cocked to the right. Any suggestions as to what I am doing wrong would be greatly appreciated.

I'm glad I came across this. I was wondering how to solve this problem and now I have some ideas. Thanks.
