I know this will sound silly but I have to ask. The quilted pattern on the outside of the tote is different from inside. The sewing on the straps do not show on the inside. How did you do that? Also what do you put inside between the lining and out side of the bag?

Quiltwithmom/Kathy-----
All the pieces have ironed on fusible fleece put on before any sewing. Panels, 4, were all cut 18 inches.
The handles are sewn on the outside of the front and back panels, within 2 inches of the top, again before any sewing together. If I use a "Block" again, I'll possibly sew the handles on the INSIDE of the front and back panels so they don't cover the motif of the pieced block
You do the lining the same way, iron on fusible fleece, then sew on the handles (on the front and back panels) and stop within 2 inches of the top (this could be 1 inch which I'm going to do the next time) so you have room/seam to sew the lining on.
Do your quilting/free motion on each of the 4 panels (front, back, 2 linings) then you start sewing them together.
A very simple and FREE pattern:
