Stack and whack quilts

I have just completed a "Stack and whack" fan quilt top and I just love the way it turned out. I was wondering if any of you and done one and what you thought of it. It is a super queen size and too large for me to quilt on my machine so I am going to have it longarm quilted by someone else.

I am working on my first one right now and I have to admit I wasn't too thrilled with the fabric that I selected. But now after I have "stacked and whacked" and I have my sets, I am amazed, and quite excited, how it turned out. I still need to sew it all together but just to see how the colors blend together it is quite spectacular.

I've got a SNW in progress - started it at a retreat 3 yrs ago, but didn't get all the blocks made. It's on my list to get to the top stage by the end of the year.





At the time I debated black or purple and picked the purple. Now I think I would have liked black. Oh well. I've got some Halloween fabric for a SNW as well. But lately I've been doing 4-patch stacked posies which are like SNW but only 4 pieces. Very addicting.

I made one for my nephew and I was pleased whith how it turned out. I may do another, but right now, I've got other projects (UFOs) waiting.
