Perhaps the last green on the first block is too dark?

Agree the last greens in the second block sort of blend together, and the effect darkens the block.

I think you guys are right. I'm taking off the last row in the first block. I love all the greens in the 2nd block but there isn't much distinction. I might try it with the gold from the square as the last row colour.

And thanks to CaroleJ for giving me the idea to start in the corner.

I really like both of your blocks. I think the first (top) one is the best looking. The second one is wonderful as well. You would be surprised how well they will look together. I have made several of that type of fabric selections. So go for it. I cant wait to see it finished.

Dawne, I like the colors in the log cabin, that is the first quilt pattern I ever made and it will probably always be my favorite. Its always amazing to me that with different colors how different they look. I like the idea of building from the corner with the start block. I think I am going to have to try and do one. Sassy
