What to do?

Post by Itchn2Bstitchn »

I picked up this piece of material (8 FQ) while in Paducah (it was calling me in my sleep!). I thought I'd do something with my charms from the blue charm swap. Any suggestions?

Are there any of the charms that DON'T match? I asked DH, but I think that he is color blind at times. Either that or he doesn't want to hurt my feelings!

Whatever pattern you decide on, those baskets just scream "fussy cut!" You can't cut them up.

Tossed Nine Patch would be pretty. Looks like you could cut 5" squares and still be able to fussy cut the baskets. Just make sure they are in the corner squares so they don't get cut up.

Yes, I thought the same thing for the blue birds --FUSSY CUT!!!

I just can't decide what pattern I want to use.

I agree, I wouldn't cut up the pretty balloon baskets and birdies!!

Fussy cut it, use it as a center square in a scrappy rail fence or a modified log cabin and surround it with all that other lovely fabric! A Tossed 9 patch would be great, too, if you leave the birdy print for the larger uncut squares; if you look at the directions, it's easier to understand what Evie meant.

If you have never done El's Tossed Nine, it is a fast and easy quilt to do! Have fun!

Love the fabric, I tend to agree that fussy cutting is the way to go. Using the charms you may be limited in the patterns you can use but I know that there are still tons of them. Good luck!

Itchin2B - Your fabric is gorgeous. There is only one I see that should be removed. It's on the bottom about the 3rd from the left. It's a blue with little yellow flowers. I don't think the blue in it is quite vibrant enough IMHO. I can't wait to see what you make with these fabrics.

Can someone who has a quilting program run this block and see what kind of patterns they come up with? I saw one similar to this and jotted them down, but I don't remember now, how they were arranged.

I agree with Cindyg, about the fabric with the yellow flowers. It just seems to jump out at me. My 2 cents. Can't wait to see what you do.

I agree with everyone else, before I even read the comments that fabric was screaming "Fussycut" at me! I love to fussycut everything I can. Beautiful fabric! By the way, thank you so much for helping me in class with my block! I sure appreciate it!

HRH is most welcome for the help in class. Have you worked on it anymore? or do I need to drive 6hrs to come up there and help you some more?
