just a note on my blocks. They are pressed but I did not square them up. The fabric seemed to fray more then i am used to (the background) and I hesitated to square them in case the little extra fabric is need to account for the fraying of the fabric. Did anyone else run into this or just me?

you got it is was the cream with the stars. I re-did some of the half square triangles because it frayed so bad when I trimmed them.

Just finished 40 flying geese for my block. (and I HATE flying geese - no matter how easy Ms El makes it look!) I won't be able to get them in the mail tomorrow as hoped. I now have to make 40 HST! I should be finished with them tomorrow and get them in Saturday's mail. Please, I'm so sorry. I kept putting these off because of the flying geese. Then, messed them up and had to travel 1 hr to the only LQS that carries this fabric. It's been a horror and I apologize.

This quilt is going to be lovely I really want to thank Sarah for putting this together..and to Jacquie for tackling the difficult blocks so that I could do 2 fairly simple ones that were more realistic for me to tackle. I will try some of the more difficult ones after i have a sample in hand.
Jan...flying Geese scare me My daughter actually declined her acceptance to Guilford College in North Carolina because of the geese on campus that chased her during her visit
so after jan's we are only missing DJ's right?

LOL Carolyn!! Carolyn, I knew my blocks were going to be hard ones...I put them off as long as I could, and then darn if my machine didn't break down! Once I got my machine back -- I just dreaded going in to sew -- I would sew a seam or two and jump up to do something else! I'm not happy with the way my blocks turned out, but it was the best I could do. (But it sure is 'fun' working on some different blocks that I like making). I didn't square up either of my blocks. One of them, seems to have lots of excess fabric -- the other one is 1/8 in too small, so I left that up to our fellow members!
Jan, just take your time. I know what you mean about the Flying geese. I use to just hate them! I always avoided blocks with them. Then I joined a BOM that had them. The quilt designer used different directions for making the Flying geese -- but I knew El's way was easier. So, one of the last blocks I was going to make it El's way, I just barely had enough fabric -- darned if I didn't make that last cut going the wrong direction!! LOL -- I so disliked this quilt, that I didn't start the last 8 blocks till about 2 years after starting the BOM, so of course, I can't get the fabric anymore, and I only need a 10 inch square! I will finish this quilt (when I have absolutely nothing else better to do), but that one block is going to be wrong! Anyway, I now look at flying geese as a "challenge" and get so excited when they turn out right. I also keep El's directions right in front of me, turn the fabric just like she has it and triple check before each cut! Have fun with them! Happy trails, jac

Jacquie
You should put a picture of the fabric you're out of - probably one of us has it. I've got fabric a lot older than that!
