baby quilt size question

hi i would like to do elenors rail fence quilt on a baby blanket but im not sure what size to go buy would it be a bit bigger than a wall hanging or would it be the lap quilt size thanks nita

Yes. I think it would be bigger than a wall hanging, but probably not as large as a lap quilt. Rail fence is easy to adjust by adding or subtracting a row.

depending on the size of the blocks I usally do 4 across and 5 down

I agree with Mawmum. My baby quilts are large enough to take to kindergarden to nap with. Amie :o)

Nita, you can also adjust the size by adding wider or narrower borders around the blocks. Baby isn't going to care about the size...

I just finished a rail fence but just boxed it up to send to my niece. Its very easy to adjust the size & fast sewing. I'm guessing about 45x45 but I could be totally wrong.

I always say a little bigger is a little better so make it lap quilt size and he or she can grow with it .

My last one was 38 x 38 and the mom tells me it will go through toddler stages at least.

It is also nice to have smaller ones(36" square) for car seats and strollers... the longer ones usually drag to much, we can just took the tails under his tush without an uncomfortable bulk... my little guy is always snuggled under his! We use the larger ones on the floor and in his bed... Good Luck!
