Blue and Brown CW Sampler. HALF MAILED OTHERS TOMORROW.

Post by CraftinDJ » Fri Mar 28, 2008 5:14 am

If you girls hadn't started requesting blocks, this would still be on the back burner. Thank you. I have been wanting to do this quilt for awhile now.

Blue and Brown CWs with Cream. It will only be open to 20 participants. Each participant would sign up for and make 20 of 1 block. Keep 1 send in 19.

These are 12" finished blocks (12 1/2" unfinished). Please use just the colors listed above. Your blue or brown can have other colors as long as it reads blue or brown. Please use only cream (no off-white, no white, no ivory, no beige). Don't stress with the cream. Cream comes in different shades - think coffee with cream, think macadamia nuts, etc. I know ebay has bundles of CW creams. Look at those colors for an idea.

Due Date: To my house on or before June 30.

Loretta - the sailboat was taken early yesterday morning. Sorry.
Carin - Dutchman's puzzle was taken as well.

Patches 4 - all of these blocks except one are patterns on quilterscache. I am trying to locate the pattern for Fox & Geese (#8). I may have to replace it with another block. There are over 1000 in quilters cache, however, I will probably use one of the blocks out of Els book. CW fabrics are easy to find on the web. I buy from Keepsake Quilting as well as from ebay. Plus some of the LQS. I have to say I am obsessed with CWs - they are my favorite fabric. They remind me of my grandmother's quilts - the old look. A true quilter - she died in bed 8 years ago hand quilting on a quilt for me. I took up quilting 3 months later to honor her.

I am on my way to the fabric store to get CW. This has such wonderful colors. How exciting! Do you remember the outside border measurments? I want to get the borders and backing all the same time if this is possible. Thanks

Hi Kid - the borders were finished - 1" (1 1/2"), 2" (2 1/2") and 6" (6 1/2"). I believe it finishes @ 70x83. Enjoy shopping for your CWs!!!

Is the cream to be a solid fabric? Can you provide a link to a cream fabric which would be appropriate for this swap.

DJ, How nice for you to be able to carry that tradition on... my husband and I are both only children... so we have limited family to carry on tradition. Not to mention I have 2 little boys so I don't see them carrying on the tradition of quilting... but my Mother in Law is who taught me to sew shortly after my first son was born about 6 years ago...so maybe someday I will have a daughter in law or grandaughter to teach and they can carry it on... keeping my fingers crossed on that one!
