Danny's quilt, Longarmed -- FULL pictures

Post by justdawne » Mon Mar 24, 2008 2:23 am

Oddly enough I cannot seem to add pics to my initial post. So, here they are. I hope you can see the effects of the quilting. It's been very, very cold so Lorraine took these but didn't take any zoomed in photos.

I just LOVE the quilting. It really adds to the quilt. You can look at it for quite some time, just appreciating all the nuances.

Every time I look at it I seem more elements of symmetry, or of a sense of being a 'planned quilt'. Actually, this quilt is made from blocks sent by 10 women in various Provinces and States.

Here is a picture of the backing. The quilt itself is an ample size. I believe it was 96" or 98" square when we measured it. We had to piece the backing together to get a square big enough. Thankfully a woman named Dale Anne in SK sent 2 huge lengths of warm brown Moda fabrics. They were used to border each block, as borders and for the backing.

Wish I could figure out how to zoom into the quilt and post that way. Hope you can see at least the overall effect of each block being quilted individually.

It's stunning, IMO.
