White Elephant. COMPLETE.
I’m blaming this idea on Sewsew. LOL. She made a comment on the “Ugly” Fabric Partner Swap board, “one mans trash is another mans treasure” and it got my mind to racing AGAIN.
How this will work: This is open to the first 15 people. If the list is full, please watch for an opening. Each person will mail to the person below them. It started with me filling a flat rate, priority mail box with some of the following: quilty notions, patterns, orphan blocks, panels, UFOs that need to be finished and/or fabrics that are still of good use but just something no longer needed. Good stuff, no thin fabrics or bent needles. LOL.
Boxes are to be sent with tracking to the next person on the list and once you receive it - take out what you like. You should then refill the box with new additions from your sewing stock/stash. Then mail the box with tracking to the NEXT person on the list. We will keep repeating this process as long as there is interest. We need everyone to post as soon as they receive and as soon as they mail. Remember, FAST = FUN!
Everyone will have 4 mailing days from the time they receive the package to have a stuffed package back in the mail. You have 5 days if a Sunday or Holiday falls in your mailing period. If you receive a package on Monday, you need to have mailed on Friday at the latest. PLEASE NOTE, if you can't send quickly, please don't sign up for this round. This needs to be FAST in order to be the most FUN.
The cost to mail inside the U.S. is $8.95 for a flat rate box and you will need to get a tracking number which is less than a dollar so the cost of this swap will be around 10.00. Due to the high cost of mailing out of the country, this swap will be limited to U.S. members only. Sorry!!!
When you signup below, please give ONE word that describes the type of fabric you are currently collecting such as "batiks, 30s, CW, marbles, reds, etc... PM me with your name, mailing addy (for box to be sent), weekend telephone number, and site name.
If you happen to play this game more than once and the box comes back to you with any items that you put in, please exchange those for different items. The box is packed with some yummy stuff.
1. CraftinDJ (DJ) - CWs/Reds and Roosters/Chickens
2. Sewsew (Ann) - Fairy frost/Blenders
3. Sadiedaisy1 (Lori) - Reds
4. SFOQuilter - Anything except neons
5. Littlebit (Michelle) - Anything except neons
6. Sharonmamaw (Sharon)
7. Sewcarolyn (Carolyn) - Autumn colors/batiks
8. Quiltinkay (Kay)
9. Sewsassynclassy (Thelma) - Reds/Batiks
10. Itchn2bstitchn (Jan)
11. Annein (Anne) - Batiks
12. Bethstreet (Beth) - Orientals/Christmas
13. Squeelquilter (Tracey) - Reds/Blacks
14. Abbigail (Brenda)
15. Marilynsgrammy (Chriss)
4/3/08 - Package is flying off to Sewsew (Ann) tomorrow. I think instead of me PMing everyone with the group's addys, please send your addy to the person above you. For instance, Lori (Sadiedaisy1) please PM Ann (Sewsew) with your addy so she can send you the package next and so on. Tracey you already PM'd me with your addy so I still have it.
4/4/08 - Ladies please put your fabrics in ziploc bags and label with your name and whether it is washed or unwashed. It might be nice to know who sent what fabrics. I labeled all of my items just in case Ann didn't take it all:o)

Re: White Elephant. COMPLETE.
When something keeps going on my head and i can not stop thinking about i need to ask. Why it is just ppl in the USA not from other countrys? My feeling is i would like to see what other countrys have that we dont. This is first time i seen this happen. I just like to know im sure everyone else does too. Is there a reson why not? Thank you Sarah

Re: White Elephant. COMPLETE.
Sarah-I would bet the reason is the cost of the postage.

Re: White Elephant. COMPLETE.
another reason may be because of the time frame, she mentioned wanting it go fast

Re: White Elephant. COMPLETE.
Sarah - as stated above, the postage would be quite costly for out of the country. As well as it could take a package 2-4 weeks to get to someone if outside of the US.

This sounds really fun, but summer is coming and I have several commentments right now. I would be interested in the fall.
DJ, do you think that you may do another in the fall or winter????
