stitch in ditch and seams not all same direction

Post by ollie1shoe » Fri Mar 14, 2008 5:51 am

my problem is im ready to put quilt together that i have paper pieced it is mostly ocean looking houses and bungolos some palm trees so im thinking maybe stitch in ditch to outline the houses and bungolos but my seams are not all pressed in the same direction i was not to careful on doing that i was mostly trying to get seams to lay flat as possible with th paper piecing some areas were a bit thick with several seams being close to each other due to small pieces so do you think its possible to stitch inn ditch with these uneven seams i have never stitch in ditch before are do you have a suggestion on another way to machine quilt it ? any help would be great thanks ollie1shoe

I think you can still stitch in the ditch. I would take it very slowly on the thick parts. I would probably put in a new needle, too.

I think you could stitch in the ditch. Let us see a picture.

As long as you are careful and work slowly, you should be just fine. Cindy is right, use a new needle, that will help for sure. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
Happy stitching!!

New Needle, and free motion stitch in the ditch. That is the way I did the Trip around the world quilt top. I used contrasting thread on the backing. WoW what a trip that was. Turned out surprisingly nice.
