That's lovely! Care to share what inspired you to do this project? The individual gem blocks would make fun gifts as pillows, tabletop quilts, or even a small wallhanging.

I love your design and I agree with cindyg about using metallic threads. I think that would really make the quilt sparkle like the real gem that it is.

cindyg....metallic or shiny thread>>>>MMMM sounds great. Only problem is I would have to quilt each block by hand. I had thought of doing that but these are paper pieced and so many small seams. It would be hard to quilt through the seams I think. I may just stitch in the ditch around each square. But use metallic thread. Thanks for that idea.

CarolJ..not sure what inspired me. I love GEMS! Saw these blocks in a the book '365 Foundation Blocks' then decide to make something with the birthstones.

Kadie......Yes I did design it myself. Not much to it. The blocks I had a pattern, the the rest was trail and error to get them set up.

Thanks all for the compliments. I am going to 'quilt' it in the next couple of days. Probably stitch in ditch and then down the center of each aqua. Not sure since I've never done it before.

This will be a wall hanging.
