i use my Janome Memorycraft 3000 and I love it. I use an open toed
even feed foot which I recently purchased. You can see where you are going so much better.

I use F & P quilting gloves. They are very light weight and they have the gripper dots like gardening gloves. I use them when I stitch in the ditch on my sewing machine. My machine has a built in walking foot and I use it when quilting on my sewing machine or sewing on the binding.

I have an Elna pro 7200 and I still havent tried machine quilting I think Im going to try a class at our Edison show in June.

I use my machine for quilting. I mainly do stipuling with the free hand, and the stitch regulator. It took lots of practice before I was really,what I would say "looking good". I made separate log cabin squares and did this stipulating on them. The colors were graduated colors, and they are put in the church auction. But, it takes time to practice. I use the different stitches also for some decorating purpose that is part of many sewing machines. This looks good as part of the quilting pattern. So, there is alot a person can do with a little imagination and time on the machine. Just keep trying and have fun with the machine you have.

Do you all use a different thread for machine quilting than what you use for regular piecing?

Abbigail, I think you can do either, but if I do free motion quilting I think it is fun sometimes if the thread shows a bit more. So, threads like the shiny rayon embroidery threads (that are also a bit thicker than regular thread) are very nice to use.

For my part, I'm hooked right now on the variegated threads that change color every few inches. They are so fun to use

I have an elna pro 7200 and I have all the feet and the gloves but am tooooooooooooooooooooooo chicken to do any machine quilting yet.

I use my Janome 4623 with the walking foot to "stitch in the ditch" and use a darning foot for stippling free motion. I use the Fons & Porter gloves. They were the only ones I could find to fit, since I have small hands.

I just bought the Bernina 630 E with the BSR. I can't wait to try it. I like to do a lot of stippling and free motion. I like to use that teflon that goes over the feed dog and make the fabric slide eaiser. Geri
