moth balls

i think i did something really stupid...i stored some quilting fabric...100% cotton...in some rubbermaid storage boxes for a short time...problem is i had woolens stored in the boxes previously and of course there were moth balls...now fabric smells (slightly) of moth balls...any suggestions for getting rid of the odor?...

Here is another option I read about: I have discovered that soaking washable clothing in a solution of orange scented 4 in 1 Lysol (the kind that removes 99.9% of bacteria/germs) did the trick, thank goodness!! I let the clothes soak for an hour, turning them now and then, then washing them as usual with Sunlight detergent. It was the Lysol that did it though. What a relief! I hope this helps.
I did a search "removing Mothball Smell" these are only a couple of ideas. Another said to hang clothes/fabric out in the sunshine for several days & the heat will help remove smell. That's hard to do in the winter. Good Luck!

I don't know about moth balls, but I had to remove cigarette smoke from a quilt. Even the cleaners didn't remove it. I threw it into the dryer with two wet towels and several dryer sheets. It took the smell out.
