I have made a few quilted jackets, but used a regular pattern for them. The pattern I used the most is McCall's #6162. It is a casual jacket pattern often referred to as a "bomber jacket"--drop shoulder style. I just sewed my patches together and then cut the pattern from that. Sometimes centering a certain block on the back or front etc. Don't have pictures to show, but I could take some if you are interested.

I made one on a sweatshirt for a friend. It wasn't too difficult and turned out ok. She liked it anyway. Someday I'd like to make another one, but other stuff keeps poping up.

Calico, I'd love to see the pictures.

My friend and I made quilted jackets building on sweatshirts. It was the hardest project I have ever done. I am not a garment sewer, and my sweatshirt did not have side seams. So I had to make one big piece and work it toward the front. It turned out pretty, but I don't know that I would do another one :-(

ccquilter, my mom makes quilted jackets using a mans shirt. She has several and continues to make more of them...she loves them. I think they turn out really pretty. I've wanted to learn for quite sometime now and she's coming on Friday to teach me. I'm excited about learning.

Julie, when you learn, pleas come back here and tell us about it. I had never heard about using a man's shirt untill this discussion.

I have made several quilted jackets on sweatshirts. Have sold some of them also! I'm not sure if the pattern is still available.
