INVISIBLE THREAD
I USED INVISIBLE THREAD TO QUILT THE TOP OF AN INCREDIBLE 54 PIECE BLOCK QUILT I MADE FOR MY S0N. IT WAS CALLED PAINT THE SUNSET. IT LOOKED GORGEOUS, BUT THE KIDS DID NOT ENJOY THE "POKIES" THAT THE CUT OFF THREAD HAD LEFT. HE ONLY USES THE QUILT IF HE PUTS A FLEECE THROW UNDER IT. INVISIBLE THREAD IS GREAT FOR WALL HANGINGS BUT NOT THE BED.

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
Thanks for letting us know, I was thinking of using it to quilt a bed quilt. I'll use something else instead now.

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
I have never used invisable thread (it scares me) so this is good to know. Amie where do you get Monopoly? Do they have it here at QIAD?

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
Did you use the invisible thread in the bobbin too? I've used invisible thread for quilts before, but always used a regular thread in the bobbin that matched my backing. I took a machine quilting class once and the instructor told us invisible thread is the best choice for quilting our tops. I started using it again after that and I've never noticed any "pokies". I up my tension so it's pretty well sunk into the fabric. I really like the invisible thread by Madeira, it's really thin, and haven't had any problems working with it. Would love to see a picture of your quilt.

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
Monopoly is made be Superior Threads. They have a great website and that teaches you all about thread. I buy from weboftread.com or baysidequilting.com usually. There are no pokies, never had that problem before. I've been using it about 10 years now. I use Bottom Line thread in my bobbin almost exclusively now. It's also from Superior. Nylon monofilament thread cracks and pokes. Polyester monofil does not do any of that. HTH, Amei

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
The thread I used is called Stitch-Thru invisible thread. It is .004 Nylon. I used Coats all purpose thread in the bobbin. I started and stopped the thread several times in each block. I stitched in the ditch and 1/4 in. from the seam. I used a regular sewing machine and tried to avoid turning the quilt as much as possible. The batting was Warm and Natural. The tension was perfect. I would show a picture, but scanner not compatible with new computer. I will show it later. It was a Carol Doak's pattern. Heather Marie

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
I was experimenting and trying to sew with invisible thread yesterday on some scraps, but it kept breaking. Wouldn't even sew two stitches. I'll have to keep fiddling with the tension knob. I have a White machine and it wasn't very expensive ... do you think that's the problem or is it because I just haven't got it set right? I looked in the manual and it doesn't mention that.

Re: INVISIBLE THREAD
Invisible threads are not created equal. A sample quilting square is important when using a new thread of any type.
