I've got a small pressing mat (12 x 14) which fits on the end of my sewing table. I use this for pressing small stuff. When I have to press yardage, I setup my large ironing board, which hangs on the back of the door when not in use.

My ironing board is over 35 years old. It is a heavy wooden one. I actually bought it at the Farmers Market about 30 years ago with the intentions of having my stepmom paint a scene on it and hang it on the wall. But I used it and fell in love with it's sturdiness, some of the ones now days are so wobbily. I have a Rowenta iron, that I purchased after using one in a quilt class; just loved the way it worked.

If I have yardage to iron I will lug out the ironing board and set it up. If it's just a wee thing like a block, I put a thick towel on my flat-top kitchen stove and iron it there. I want you to know though, that yesterday I ordered a Cushioned Quilters Square for pressing small things!
