what is your pressing/ironing set up?

I think you will like the panasonic cordless for pressing seams and small things. I even use mine for pressing yardage after it is washed. There is no steam sputtering with this iron. I always use distilled water in it. However, I have several heavy tablecloths and I have to get out my old iron for those. The cordless doesn't hold the heat long enough for the heavy things. I wish I had a Big board for those.
I have a fold up cutting table I use next to my machine and the Panasonic and a SewE-Z board sit on one end. I put a cutting mat over the SewE-Z board. I made a little bag to hang on that end to hold my rotary cutters. It all works out just fine.

I agree with Sunsup - the other day my iron kept shutting itself off while I was trying to piece. I can't help it that I am slow and that it took me more than 8 mins to cut and piece before I needed to use the iron again!!

I made a ironing station. Lowe's hardware store had the pattern in their magazine.
The top is plywood cut 32"x72". I covered the wood with thin batting and covered that with a cotton sheet. It has 3 sets of wire drawers units underneath to hold the tabletop. It works great for ironing quilts, (if I dont have it junked up with UFO's)

The new Black and Decker Classic iron has auto shut off. The older models does not. Lowes still has several of the older versions, at least the Lowes here does. Black and Decker has a new digital iron that is suppose to eliminate all spitting and sputtering, the steam isn't turned on until the right temp. is reached. One thing I do know is never have the steam on until the iron has reached the temp need for steam. Having steam on while the iron is heating up will cause a lot of spitting, the water isn't heated enough to make steam.

DH made me a big board 60 x 24 for Christmas. I told him what I wanted [after he asked of course] with the size. I got the covering from Joanns and yesterday we finally got around to stapleing down the silver/cotton stuff on the underside yesterday. It's terrific!
I have a Rowenta iron for that area of the sewing room.

I have a Rowenta Steam iron and love it....it works good. I am currently using my regular big ironing board...and I get up and down to go to it to press/and iron things...I am looking at finding a smaller arrangement to set by the sewing table for pressing smaller pieces/seams....I may get DH to make my a large board for ironing quilts on as the quilt "grows" larger.

I have a Big Board on a long dresser with drawers and a Maytag cordless iron. Amie

I have a Rowenta steam iron, but it sure seems to go through the water....and I have a regular board, but now I want a bigger one.

I guess I could put a bigger ( longer and wider) board on top of my iron board.... hmmmmm, this just might work.

For the small stuff I use one of those two sided things, it's a iron pad on one side and a cutting mat on the other... I use a travel iron with it.... it is perfect for quilt club.

My ironing board sits next to my sewing machine so I can swivel around and use it. I lower it so I can remain sitting and use the blunt end instead of the pointy end. Started using it this way while recovering from a broken foot. Lazy? Yes!
