Xmas gift for brother in Florida

Post by quiltnewby05 » Wed Dec 26, 2007 11:52 am

Hi
Hope everyone had a nice Xmas!! This is one of the quilts I made, for my brother. He lives in Florida -- it's a throw size, which will be used while my sister in law watches TV!! Tried to use their colors, and add batiks that have a tropical look.
Got a digital camera for Xmas, so will be able to send pictures quicker!

I absolutely love this quilt. It will be perfect for Florida. It's very light and airy. If you would be willing, could you break down the block for me. It looks like the two strips of batik and then a strip of the background on either side, but narrower. Is that correct? I've got lots of small pieces of batiks that this would work really well with. Thanks for sharing.

I see each block is 2 batiks and 2 background strips... right???

That is wonderful!

Great job with the camera, too!

Each block has two 2"x6" pieces with two 1"x6" piece on both sides, to make a 6" block. Some of those fabrics aren't batiks -- I ran out, so had to go to my stash!! Since my background color was so light, I wish the two patches inside would all have been a dark and a medium, instead of using some of those light colors!!

I didn't finish it until the 23rd!!

Thanks for the nice comments
