Ode to CindyB

Post by BlueMoon » Sat Dec 22, 2007 2:32 pm

Twas a few days before Christmas and Santa’s busy time of the year, a time to be remindful for all those we hold dear.

He’d been making his list and going over it twice, he had someone in mind that had been helpful and nice.

You see all year long Santa had heard about all the good things this one special lady had done, he knew he had to meet her, oh, this was going to be fun.

So off Santa went to his keyboard to google the address, just to double check his directions and not put him under further duress.

The state where we’re going, boys, is Iowa land, so hitch up the sleigh before things here get too far out of hand.

Things were all packed and ready to go, Santa sure hoped this trip was anything but slow.

Santa had heard about Cindy B and all her cyber friends, and how they didn’t forget, all the victims that had been though fire, rain, wind and sweat.

They made stockings, quilts and blocks galore, always having something ready in store. Santa couldn’t wait to shake this gal’s hand and to thank her personally for taking such a stand.

Santa knew Cindy’s plate at times had been full,
But that didn’t stop her from needle and spool.

Santa was getting excited he knew he was getting close, now all he had to do was find the right house.

So Santa looked for the pine tree so gayly lit, he knew his schedule was heavy and could stay but a bit.

He rang the doorbell and who would appear, oh, this must be Cindy in all her nighttime gear.

Her face was all red and she was in quite a dither, Santa was on the porch and about to enter.

I just want to thank you and the rest of the gang for always thinking of others to alleviate their pain.

Santa didn’t stay long. He knew his time was about up, he shook Cindy’s hand, and said goodnight to the pup.

Santa, before you leave, I have just one thing to say, do you get chilly and cold out on that sleigh?

She ran to the bedroom and with quilt in sight, she handed it to Santa and wished him goodnight.

Santa was all bundled and ready for flight,
“Merry Christmas to all you quilters and to all a good night.”

Great poem! You're very creative. I like the ending, since Santa gets a quilt. You'd think he'd have had one after all these years!!

Thank you BlueMoon for putting these wonderful thoughts into words. Great poetry, my friend. Cindy surely deserves something in her honor! Can't you just see her opening the door as you described it! And thanks, Cindy, for being Cindyb. We love you. Now don't forget, if you get overloaded, since Santa now knows you, I'm sure he'll lend you some elves to help out! carol/kittyquilt
