Thread count of quilting fabric

Post by sewbug »

I bought a great tool called the Carson MagnaStitch.
http://www.carsonoptical.com/Magnifiers ... LinenTest™

It shows the thread count of fabric. I have been comparing my quilt shop quality fabric to other not quilt shop bought fabric. It easy to tell exactly what is what using this tool. I was surprised that some of my discount fabric was as nicely woven as the LQS fabric but many of the fabrics were not. Now I can separate my fabric by quality which will make it easier to know which are for quilts and which are for quilting crafts. Here is a good article I found about quilt fabric:

I found this item at Hobby Lobby with the cross stitch supplies for $4.99. There is another one called R.O.S.E from That Perfect Stitch that has a larger viewing screen and it's $12. I have enough gadgets to open a quilt notions only shop!

Sure wish I knew where there was a Hobby Lobby. Everyone seems to get great things there. Never heard of it until this Forum.

There's a Hobby Lobby about an hour from here. It may be less expensive for me to pay shipping than pay for the gas to drive there.

Kitty, Hobby Lobby started out selling model planes, cars etc. Now it is becoming like a Michael's only less expensive.
