Tablerunners
Hi To All, As you all know, I am still pretty new to the quilting world. I was looking at all of the beautiful table runner pictures and they are just awesome. My question is, how can I make a table runner long enough for my table? Most of the patterns are not long enough. Thanks for your help!

for some of the table runners I've made, I've just used a 12" block pattern.. then you can make as many blocks as you want for the length of your table. You can add a wider border to fit as well. A couple of the runners I made I put a sashing between the blocks and some I didn't.
If you haven't checked out quilterscache.com--they have TONS of 12" block patterns and some really easy ones--which are the ones I like!!
I have one more runner cut out and now that I have found the pattern I'm ready to piece it. Tonite while watching TV I'm going to hand sew down the binding on a runner I finished today. I do so love being home from work all day!! Later on this evening I'll post a picture of it too!
Good Luck

Here's the url for the 12" blocks:
http://www.quilterscache.com/BlocksbySi ... SizeC.html
If you scroll all the way down on the block page, you will see different size blocks. I made a tablerunner in class that we used 15" blocks and 3" sashing. Wished I had added another block because mine still was not long enough. I have a very long dining room table when both leaves are in.

Re: Tablerunners
Someone posted this free pattern for a tablerunner and I made it in a few hours. It's very easy and it's the same pattern that is called the French Braid that is so popular right now. There is no certain stopping point, you can make it as long as you want it.

After spending more time on the binding then making the tablerunner, I now sandwich and turn inside out and then machine quilt it.

I'm like Sewbug, I put a narrow border on them then turn them like a regular quilt. I would love to learn how to do the binding by sewing both sides (and have it look good). If you haven't gone to quilters cache you really should check them out. I love the website.
Have Fun,
