Got my I Spy charms today. Thank you to all. I look forward to putting together a fun child's game quilt... for my future Grandchildren.

O my, all of these charms are great. I received mine on wed. and I went through them all with my DD. Some of these don't say if they been washed, should I just put them in the wash?

Thanks Lynn for doing this swap, you did a great job. I bet it was fun going through them all.

For those of you that are going to wash the unwashed charms-how do you do it so they don't unravel to nothing? I hate prewashing fabric partly for that reason-they unravel so much. I'm afraid of washing something so little. Any advice?

Lynn et al,
Rec'd my I SPY charms today. OH MAN!!! ...do I LOVE THEM.

I simply cannot wait to have time to work with them. So many of the charms just made me laugh, they're that cute, and so many others are fabrics I've never seen or fabrics not avail. here in NS.

To wash them, I fill the sink with warm water, sort the charms into collor groups and soak them with a tiny amount of laundry detergent. Then rinse by soaking, press the water out on a towel and either air dry or tumble dry on low heat for a short amount of time. Don't let a dark, wet charm sit on top of a wet, light colored one or the colors may bleed even if the rinse water looked clear. Once they go in the dryer start it up and don't let them sit even 5 minutes.

Saddledaisy,
Lynn gave you good advice about washing small charms. I'm going to offer another suggestion.

I plan to put all the unwashed charms into one quilt with unwashed fabrics from my stash. Then, after all the piecing and quilting I'll wash the whole quilt and it will wash and then shrink evenly.

The washed charms are going into a different quilt.

I need to make 2 quilts anyway but mostly I hate washing small bits of fabric. LOL

all of mine were washed,

I wash small items in a little cloth drawstring bag on gentle. I then air dry them and iron them
