LOL, Tuljpe!

Yes, I'm supposed to be in bed, and yes, my price includes sales tax already - making me even happier when you just made me realize that I'm certainly paying less for it than I would have done in the US... :-)

So, now I'm off to bed with a smile on my face... :-)

So, here's how it went today: the extension table had not arrived (someone at the Viking office had messed up the order) but I just couldn't resist taking my baby home anyway, LOL!

So, I now have a lovely brand new sparkling beautiful Sapphire 870 Quilt sitting on my kitchen table, and I don't even know where to start, so I haven't tried it yet! Just like you'd feel and smell the interior of a new car, I have however touched it an smelled it already, LOL! (Unbelievable how crazy you get when you become a quilter!?!?!?!!?)

It has so many fun little things to play with that I decided to sit down with a cup of coffee and the instruction book before giving it a first test run! So, will report back later on how it works, and for now I'll just show you a pic of the wonder machine!!!

Homespun - congrats on your beautiful new machine. You are gonna LOVE the 10" throat space. My Janome has a 9" throat and, I swear, I don't think I could sew on anything less now that I've gotten use to all that space. Enjoy your machine.

Maria. . . .IT'S GORGEOUS!!!!!! You are going to have so much fun this weekend! If we don't hear from you till next week sometime we will understand. However, I can't wait to hear how you like all the little extras that are on it. I keep stopping in to see if "IT" has arrived at my LQS yet. The only bad thing about having to check in with them is that I can't seem to get out of there without buying some fabric!!!! LOL

Have a wonderful weekend. . .

Thanks girls! So, far, in general, I love it! A lot of new things to get used to, though, including not having a lever to raise and lower the presser foot. I keep reaching for it, only to realize there's nothing there... :-)

Haven't tried a lot of the bells and whistles yet, but... the presser foot sensor thing is unbelievable! I tried to sew across a little 5" x 5" "quilt sandwich" which I had made a double fold on in the middle (i.e. three layers of batting and six layers of fabric) and the machine just went from the single layer, over the fold, and over to the single layer as if nothing had happened! The stitches were completely even and the presser foot just adjusted itself instantly as the thickness shifted. It'll be breeze to sew over very bulky and multilayered seam allowances with this machine!

It is generally very quiet, but at low speed in free motion mode (one of them!) it makes an extra sound which I'm not sure should actually be there... Might have to go in to my dealer to listen to his demo machine tomorrow to see if it sounds the same!

Congratulations on your new machine, it's a beauty!

Can't wait to see all the wonderful things you create with it.

What were you using before this one?

Bransmom, I had a Viking Platinum 770 that I traded in for this one. Even if that machine was not even two years old, I get the impression that this machine is really far better than my old one. Again, I'm already convinced that the presser foot sensor system in itself is worth every penny... :-)
