I understand the Sapphire 870 has taken the place of the Viking 545 which is what I have. If the Sapphire is as great as the 545, that would be quite a machine. I saw it at our local JoAnn's and was tempted but decided to keep the 545.

*smile*

I went on-line to see where I can find a Husqvana Viking dealer.
There is one right here in Chula Vista.
I am intriqued by this Sapphire 870 machine, would Love to test drive it and find out if it is affordable.

Anyone knows at what price I'll be looking at?

Tuljpe, I just saw, in a test in the magazine Quilter's Newsletter, that the Sapphire 850 costs somewhere around 1500 US dollars in the US. It was also recommended over all the other eight machines they tested!!! Since the new 870 seems so much better than even the 850, and (at least here) costs only about 100 dollars more, I am now more convinced than ever that the "870 Quilt" is my machine!!!

I've told my dealer I'll trade in my "old" Viking Platinum, and that I'll be there to get the new one as soon as the extension tables arrived. He was supposed to call me as soon as the delivery came, which he thought would be yesterday or today, but he hasn't called yet... I'm now getting really worried that I won't get to spend this weekend with my new machine.... :-(

Maria, the price seems like a good one.

Post a picture for Susanna and I when you get it. Susanna has found a dealer in San Diego that has them in already. They don't have them at the dealer here in the north county of San Diego yet. Susanna is going to go and look also and let me know. I'm so excited for you! Is it about the same size as your Platinum?

Let us know. . . .

Linda, yes, I too am so excited, but I'm getting worried that the extension table might not arrive before the weekend. I don't want to take the machine home without it. I'd go crazy not being able to try the free motion on it right away, and I can't see myself free motioning without the table.

And, yes, I'd say the size is pretty much the same as my Platinum, but it might possibly be a little bit longer because of the 10" throat...? Hadn't really thought about that. The broschure I've got doesn't give the measures.

I'll definitely post pics as soon as I have it in my possesion, LOL!

Linda/Oasis
I have a Viking-QD2. I haven't been able to take any classes to learn all the bells and whistles-I just keep the book handy and am happy. I had always wondered if I should have bought a Bernina. After reading the posts I am happy with what I have.

*SMILE*

Those Viking machines are wonderfull, and much more affordable then some other brands.

This dealer has the Vikings and the Baby Locks. (Baby Lock Quest about $2300)

The Viking Saphire 870 will sell between $1800 and $2000.

The new Baby Lock Quest will come in next week, and the Viking 870 the first week of November.

I test drove the Viking Designer 2 (about $1800) Viking 840 and 850 (about $1200)

Did I make your head spin yet?
My head is spinning.

My head is spinning from the fact that I may actually have found something that's cheaper here than where you guys are!!! At least the same price! Seeing how much I have to pay for fabric here, I'm delighted to learn that my Sapphire will not be more expensive here than in the US!

(But, then again, they are of course produced in this country, so maybe that was to be expected...)
