Grandmother's Flower Garden

Post by CindyB » Tue Oct 02, 2007 3:35 pm

These blocks were a horror to work with - a friend's step-mother made them in the 70's, and she asked me to do something with them. They were not all cotton - some didn't have anything but polyester in them! Well, this is what I came up with - and she loved it!

The non-cotton fabrics were a bear to quilt - but I did this all on my home machine.

You did a great job on them Cindyb. My Mom is badddd about sneaking polyester into her blocks. Or even worse at sending me the poly. to make her bias binding with. GGRRRRRR I'd rather somebody hit me than make me work with that. You really did a great job on the quilting!

You did a fantastic job! I personally LOVE the grandmothers flower garden pattern. I'll bet your friend is so happy with it.

Fantastic job! Did you use QIAD appliqué method on those blocks?

Beautiful Job. I have a Grandmother's Flowre Garden made of yo yos. I didn't make it myself, I bought it in NC mountains.
My mother made herself one out of yo-yos and she made all of them out of polyester so it would dry quickly she said. Tere was no quilting in either quilt. Is polyester hard to quilt? I want to make a Crazy Quilt that will hav all kinds of fabric int it.
