I'm getting ready to mail out my 20 F/Q. Since it's the blue flannel exchange, it's a beefy load. Any suggestions on what to send them off in? Maybe 2 large mailing envelopes?
Use the 'flat rate' box that you get for free at the post office. It is $8.95 for anything that you can stuff in it & close. My fabric costs about 11-12 dollars regular rate and flat rate is 8.95. Great savings. This goes for anything that you may want to send. On line fabric shops should use this as you can get about 15 yards of cotton & 10 yards of flannel in these boxes. S
I'm glad you posted this question and answer. I hadn't even thought about the postage part. But JoAnns just emailed out a 50% coupon for use the first weekend of October. I'll be using that one!
I use the ty-vek two-day envelopes for my swaps, it works well. I think it's a little less, too.
I put all of my fat quarters in their tiny el-cheape zip-lock bags, put my mailing address labels on them, then (sometimes - I'm learning) put them in a larger freezer sized gallon zip-lock bag. I have been known to use my bags I get my QIAD fabric in to ship out swaps... I also put my name and address on that.
No problems so far with the tyvek envelope getting opened in the mail.
Yeah, I think the TyVek works ok, too but the flat rate postage priority box is good, too. Probably about the same for postage but you may want to check. If you use the TyVek and it is more than $8.95 you can always stick the whole thing in the box for $8.95.
