Hummingbird - 'after' looks better. There's so much more maneuvering room. When my cutting is up in the middle of my room I barely have room to walk around it. I prefer to cut out everything all at once and then fold down the cutting table but that isn't how it always happens.
Maryq - I'd move your sewing room to the bigger area. You never know. You may not have to sell your house and after two years you'd be thinging 'dang, I should have moved my sewing room when I thought about it'.

Looks great. I'm very glad to see someone else with their rulers hanging on the wall. I tend to think of mine as "art."

Nice job Hummingbird. Your room looks so nice. It looks a lot bigger too. I find that when I clean my sewing room and sort through stuff I feel so much better afterward and am ready to start a new project.
Aren't our sewing rooms heaven! I love that I have a room all to myself to have all of my "stuff" just where I want it. For so many years I sewed at the dining room table. I feel blessed! lol

I agree! I love being tucked in my sewing room! I tend to take my laptop with me so I can listen to Christian music or teachings while I sew and stay in touch with everybody on the forums, LOL. Ok, ok, I also take the cordless phone and the cell phone if I'm in the middle of a big project, LOL. Now if I just add a coffee pot and a potty, I'd never have to come out!
The rulers are definitely my art, LOL! If I can't see them, I have to dig for them and that drives me crazy!

Your room looks great. I really need to be doing that to mine, but when I get the money together to do that something happens. This time it was the waste pipe from the house to the street, $8,000. but at least I will be able to use the bathroom, do laundry and dishes.

Much better! Don't you like having your sewing table up against the wall? I don't like it when the quilt is hanging off the table. Amie

Yes, I like it against the wall. The selling point of putting it in the middle of the room was so I could see out the window but it really doesn't make that much difference. I can turn around to do hand work or DH said - just put up a mirror and then you can see out the window, lol.
As far as cost is involved in my sewing room, I have to be honest. My DH is a veteran scrounger, LOL. He made the sewing table for me years ago and it is s-o-l-i-d!! The trunk on the floor was an auction find for a few bucks. The light colored shelving unit was something that a guy at DH's work was going to throw away, the treadle machine was DH's grandmothers, and my sewing chair was a floppy office chair that DH fixed. Even the Bernina was my MIL's and she gave that to me. SO - the only expenses were really the fabric and quilting toys!

Looks good. I have got to find a way to store my "rulers"....and, I want a Design Board. Otherwise, my sewing room is set up ok. I may get an Ott table lite for sewing area. I have a floor lamp that is great. I need a basket or something to put a lot of notions in also.
Your room looks great....
