Jar Quilt I made for my friend

Post by quiltwithmom » Sun Aug 26, 2007 9:09 am

My friend has a huge garden every year. She makes up tons of jars with veggies. I wanted to give her something special. This is made with fat quarters of different vegetables. I use brown because I thought it would look like the jars were in a cupboard. I doesn't look that way, but she love the quilt anyway. I did the label on the computer.
The second little quilt shown is a BowTie wall hanging. I call this my "traveling" quilt. It is all HAND sewn. I would take pieces with me as we traveled and sew the squares by hand. It was nice to have something to do while in a hotel room or on a cruise. I finally finished it in July while on a trip to my mom's. All by hand! I figured if the squares were hand sewn then the rest should be too.
Thanks for looking.

Mom

How cute is that.... what a wonderful idea for a gardener/canner! I bet she will love it!

Where did you find that pattern for the jars or did you make it up yourself!

Hmmm where did I get this pattern? Our quilt club makes comfort quilts. One if the gals show us how to make the jars. She even had the templete drawn out. We used bugs and things for kids. I think I have see a bug jar pattern at the quilt store after we did this. But these are larger. The jars made me think of my friend. So I made up a pattern for a the quilt using veggies.
