Nanjam,
I too loved this and the choice of fabric and the symmetry..you know my OCD...I actually had read the whole process when I was just "lurking" on this site and not saying much. It is adorable and I love the little creatures too. The whole process came together perfectly. It is not too much talking for me as it helps me to learn the thought processes that others are going through to come up with such a wonderful end product. Great job homespunMary. I am nanjam(Nancy)'s sister in law. Sue

I love the quilt and I loved hearing about the ups and downs along the way. It turned out great and there's not another like it in the whole world.

This was a cute story....I did read to the bottom....and all the while I was reading, I was thinking of a pm I sent to you recently on the great advantages of having Electric Quilt....just think of the time, fabric and all you could have saved by scanning your "moomin" fabric and using the fabric library fabrics (included in EQ) to play with your design ideas on the computer screen!!! I should go on the EQ payroll and get paid for messages like this!!
)
BUT...then I wouldn't have been able to read your cute story. I LOVE THE APPLIQUE HEARTS AND THE NARROW SASHING! You did a beautiful job of quilting it also. Couldn't be cuter...all your work was rewarded!

HomespunMary,
You asked about OCD. It is obsessive compulsive disorder. I joke about it as far as I am concerned because I have never been officially diagnosed with it but do exhibit some of the symptoms in some areas of my life.
If you have full blown OCD then it engulfs your life with repetitious activities such as handwashing, touching a doorknob 20 times before you can allow yourself to open the door, not being able to bear to shake hands with someone, or being compulsive about cleanliness or order.
http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen ... y/133.html
Go to this website and it defines it as a mental disorder.
I am really kinda nuts about some things being even and orderly in something that I create but my surroundings can look like a grenade exploded. I use a seam ripper a lot when I am sewing but it doesn't bother me to do things that are roughly finished like a ragged edge blanket because it is supposed to be that way but I like the fabric to be in a specific design that is balanced. It is ok if others do something that is free form but for the most part that bothers me to do it. I can even do something scrappy if there is a basic balanced pattern to it.
It can be a good thing. At Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, my family likes for me the cut up the onions and celery for the dressing/stuffing because I work to try to cut the pieces small and close the the same size so that they cook evenly. The same goes for arranging things on a platter. Also, my niece(nanjam's daughter) and I both have to rearrange and stack things on a hamburger or sandwich in a certain order and we have to be able to spread the mayo or mustard all the way to the edge on our sandwiches and this drives some in our family nuts.
Anyway...I am not full blown OCD, just compulsive about some things...and it is really funny as I have not had the opportunity to be completely OCD or I probably would have been. Having a 4 year old son when twin daughters were born almost 30 years ago and still working full time probably saved me from the luxury of fully developing my potential for OCD and that is a good thing. So feel free to watch for my little OCD activities if you meet me... I think it is funny too. Sue

LOL, cyberspacequilter. That's not something I've got, then. Well, apart from the having my surroundings (homes, offices - I've got two of each) look like a grenade exploded, LOL!

Oh, forgot your sales pitch for EQ, calico! LOL, I too think you should ask them for commission. I think you've almost convinced me...

Mary,
I loved reading your story (wish I would think of doing this with each project, but I know I'll forget when the time comes) and I especially love the quilt. You are very talented!!! The baby will treasure it as they get older!
