Mid-arms on an original Grace quilting frame

Post by notaquiltsnob »

I am thinking of upgrading my Juki machine for something with a longer arm. I would love to know what machines work on the Grace frame.

I'd go straight to the horse's mouth and call the Gracie frame people or go to their website and e.mail them.

At the State Fair, I tried a Janome on a Grace frame (I keep wanting to say Gracie!! LOL!)

I really liked how the pick-up rollers are down underneath, and the frame I saw had a shelf you could get on the back.... sweet, as my DD says!

Help. I have a grace frame that I bought from an individual. It has the metal rails and how she had it set up was with leader cloths that had a sleeve you put a dowel in and slide that in the space in the metal rails. What a setup! I need a different setup. This is way too frustrating! I would love to hear how others attach their quilts. I''''ve tried contacting the Grace Company through e-mail and I never get any response.

I have a Grace frame with a Juki 98Q. I pin my tops/backing to the leader cloth with safety pins and then I don't need to remove the leader cloths every time....the only time I had to thread the leaders onto the rails was the initial setup.... Hope this helps...

How long and how wide do you make your leader cloths?

Grace now uses acrylic tubing instead of the dowel rod. It is the stuff that they use for aquarium filters. Make sure it is small enough to push into the slots. You can use your thumbnails, or a window screen splining tool, or kathyquilts has a little tool for this purpose. I have arthritis in my thumbs and can no longer use my thumbnail to push it in (I have used a small screwdriver, also). I pin my tops to the leaders on the frame, so I seldom, if ever, have to take the leaders off the frame.
