I always start with obvious first. If it just stops is it possible the power cord has wiggled out of the connection on the machine? Or a breaker thrown? Just a thought.

Maybe your foot control isn't plugged in all the way?

Re: Sewing machine stops working.
My older Kenmore would get slow and stop sometimes. Turns out the 'brushes' were worn down. I tried to get new brushes at the Sears Parts place, was told they didn't sell brushes, only new motors, so I said "OK, I'll take a new motor", but they were out of stock. It was the day before Easter and I was still sewing Easter clothes for the kids, so they saw my desperation and sent me across the street to an electrical repair shop. I had the old 'brushes' in hand, the guy took one look, turned and made new ones for me - charged me 50¢! Kids wore their new clothes on Easter!
If your machine is an older one, with lots of 'miles' on it, this just might be the problem.

P.S. You'll know if it is a loss of power if the light goes off. If the light stays on when the machine slows or stops, there is something else wrong!

Saden, I will try the power cord but the light was on. I will look at the breaker too.
Qltsbme, The foot control and plug are the same one. But I will try it too.
Gmaann, I think the machine its 10 to 11 years old. I wrap the cord around the foot control. Maybe it a bad idea. I will look at it when I get back home. I'm on vacation right now.

You can break some of the wires in cords wrapping them around things or them getting 'pinched' in something. . . .plus sometimes things just wear out.
I'm glad Sears sent you to the repair guy across the street gmaann! What a neat fix for only 50 cents! Whew, I bet you were sweating bullets!
