Terry Atkinson from (www.atkinsondesigns.com) has great patterns and books using fat quarters. Her books and patterns are well written and easy to do.

There are many fat quarter friendly patterns. I like Turning 20, and I have heard through the grapevine there is now a Turning 22, but don't quote me.

I tend to make 'scrap' quilts so love FQs. I made a pinwheel string quilt a while back and simply sliced a 'hunk' off of each FQ in my stash. The colors were all over the place but in the end they all played nicely together.

I recently used them for the Sunflower Quilt. Very simple and easy.

Here is a website:

I love fat-quarters. I mostly make childrens quilts so don't need a lot of fabric. This way I can use a lot of different colors. I always stock up when Joann's has them for 99 cents.

I have made a number of Yellow Brick Road quilts using fat quarters and have loved them all. I made a Twin Sister lap robe, from the Quilts Through the Season Book using fat quarters, I posted a picture in the quilt photos.

In regard to flannel fat quarters, when you can find them that is - I used them to make a turning 20 quilt with no batting. Use flannel for the backing. It makes a very warm quilt.

I absolutely love buying and collecting fat quarters - the more the merrier! I love to shop the quilt store sales and bring them home and compare them or group them by what I already have in my stash. I sort them into those wonderful large-size zip-baggies that are sold in the supermarkets. I tell my minister who is part of our quilt club at church that I love to introduce my new fat-quarters to the others and tell them to "get a long and play nice"!!!
It's fun to see how you can group some of the colors and patterns to see if something is going to "speak" to you for a future project.
Take a look at the free down-loadable patterns that Eleanor offers on her main page. The ones that come to mind right away for your Christmas fat-quarters are the patterns: Crossroads, Cyclone, Strip Stocking, Leah's Star (my daughter-in-law is a Leah and I'm making a quilt for her using that pattern!), Scrappy Star, and Homestead.
You'll see what I mean when you check these patterns out.
If you go to the McCall's quilting website - there are loads of free patterns to choose from and they are easy to follow.

I am finishing Twin Sisters in Quilts through the Season by Eleanor burns. I used the fat quarters from the pastel swap last winter. It is going to be a summer "happy" quilt for the king size bedspread.
I will not put a batting in it. I do not have the border and binding on yet. But, when I do I will post it. I sew part of the bindings on when we travel. So, it may not get finished for a few weeks. This quilt was really fun, pretty and surprising how easy it is. Just using fat quarters.

I bought some Fat Quarters over the weekend intending to make a quilt with them. It is called 5 Easy Pieces. Welllllllllllllll, I discovered that the quilt called for more than fat quarters. It needs to have fat-fat quarters. (It needs about 1/4 yard of full width.) oops
