My stash, such as it is, is in a cabinet with glass doors. It is on the wall next to a window so the sun doesn't get to the fabric and, because of the glass doors, neither does the dust. My DH is going to build me matching cabinets for each side of the window and they will have glass doors. I can look at my fabric yet it is protected. I wish he'd hurry up and get them made. I'm ready for them since I have a newly painted sewing studio.

I used to use the plastic bins as well but just recently DH found some shelving units and we put those in the closet in my sewing room, which is the 4th BR in our house. That way if I have the closet doors open, I can see it, but it's also protected from the light and dust.

Here's one side:

I can't find the post in photos. Maybe I put it somewhere else. Anyone remember my post where I got all that fabric in a basket?

Found it! I guess it was left behind on the old board. I did a search and it showed up.

I have a pretty big double closet in a spare room, which dh fitted out to hold my fabrics. I have 3 metal shelves in the top half to about chest high level that go all the way across from side to side. Below that on the left side there are two more metal shelves that go about 2/3 across, and they are supported by a frame that holds wire baskets.
I keep batting pieces, muslin, and prequilted fabrics in bins on the upper shelf, anything a yard or more folded on the next shelves, and bins on the smaller shelves that hold smaller pieces and fqs. (I have lots & lots of fqs!) The wire drawers hold various notions & patterns.

Still not enough space, though. Everything overflows! right now I have a laundry basket with my current project & the fabrics for it on the floor next to the sewing machine table., and there are other stacks of fabarics .... well, everywhere!

And the big roll of batting is stuffed under the bed in the spare bedroom!
